Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspect delivery vehicle for maintenance needs and report defects.
- Maintain a clean and organised vehicle.
- Confirm product deliveries by obtaining signatures.
- Handle materials safely (medicines, samples, chemicals).
- Use navigation systems and maps effectively.
- Manage time to ensure on-schedule deliveries (local & national).
- Load/unload cargo and delicate equipment.
- Fill and collect liquid nitrogen in line with safety procedures.
- Run AMITD errands and messenger services.
- Assist with daily AMITD operations and ad hoc tasks.
General Support Duties (AMITD):
- Laboratory housekeeping (moving equipment, organising storage, basic cleaning).
- Removal of packaging materials (boxes, pallets).
- Assist with waste segregation and disposal (including chemical waste).
- Assist in setting up laboratory workspaces and events.
- Support asset and inventory management (labelling, tagging, record keeping).
- Receive, unpack and store stock/deliveries.
- Report facility maintenance issues (e.g., leaks, faulty lights).
- Work flexibly Monday–Friday, occasional weekends or public holidays as required.
Inherent Requirements
- Grade 10 (NQF Level 2) – attach proof
- Valid South African driver’s licence – attach proof
- Relevant experience related to duties
Recommendations (Advantageous)
- Grade 12 Certificate (NQF Level 4)
- Multilingualism (including local languages)
- Knowledge of South African geography
- Valid South African passport
- Code 10 (C1) driver’s licence
- Public Driving Permit (PDP)
- Five years’ relevant driving experience (including AMITD duties)
- Willingness to travel extensively (national & regional)
- Ability to follow instructions, adapt, and learn
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to lab protocols
