Job Title: Data Administrator

Location: Ndevana Community Research Site
Annual salary range: R192,647 – R261,221 plus rural allowance

Purpose of the Position:
To ensure accurate, timely, and ethical data capture for clinical trials, while supporting data verification, archiving, and report generation processes in compliance with GCP and research protocols.
Scope of Work:
- Accurately capture participant data using approved electronic data capture platforms (e.g., REDCap).
- Perform regular data quality checks to identify discrepancies or errors in captured data.
- Generate and submit participant data quality reports to the PI or Project Manager.
- Ensure participant data is handled in compliance with GCP and ethical guidelines.
- Maintain proper filing systems for participant data (both electronic and paper-based).
- Archive participant records and clinical reports in a retrievable, standardized format.
- Assist in consolidating daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Work closely with investigators, project manager, and clinical staff to support data-related activities.
- Identify and resolve queries or discrepancies within the electronic data capture system.
- Participate in training on the use of data capture and management tools (e.g., REDCap, MediData).
- Stay informed about updates to clinical trial data management processes.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
Advantageous:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Valid GCP certification.
- Short course in data management or analysis processes.
Experience:
Essential:
- 2 – 3 years’ working experience in data management.
- 1 – 2 years of experience working in the research environment.
Advantageous:
- Previous involvement in public health programs or working in an NGO or similar environment.
Additional Requirements:
- Proficiency in reading, speaking, and writing Xhosa and English.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.
- Proficiency in using data capture tools such as REDCap, MediData, or Signant Health (or similar platforms).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel.
- Willingness to work reasonably extended or flexible hours when required, in accordance with the BCEA.
