Job Description
Planning and Budgeting:
- Assist with AECI Mining Explosives Entity budget process, in conformance with the AECI guidelines and principles
- Assist with monitoring and controlling expenditure within approved level, ensuring compliance with budgetary control procedures and policies
- Prepare budget & forecast reports for Income Statement and Balance Sheet
- Financial management and reporting
- Compile financial information in preparing financial statements including monthly and annual reporting
- Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
- Creation of new GL accounts and cost centres
- Prepare monthly and year-to-date financials with accompanying analysis of results and insight into variances
- Prepare monthly management reporting packages
- Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
- Review financial reconciliations (including GL)
- Create / Authorise month end journal postings
- Prepare month-end and year-end Cognos reporting packs
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
- Coordinate monthly and year-end financial reporting
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis as required
- Ensure the export provision is cleared every month
- Intercompany loan accounts
- Maintain intercompany loan accounts
- Perform intercompany monthly confirmations
- Perform monthly intercompany reconciliations
- Manage relationships with AECI Mining subsidiaries
- Hedging process
- Maintain hedging process in line with AECI Treasury policy & ensure that all imports and exports are hedged accordingly on a weekly basis
- Perform treasury reconciliation and submit to AECI as per deadline
- Request the draw in of contracts by AECI for FEC payments
- Request spot cover to be taken out by AECI for Rand payments
- Ensure compliance with all legislation in relation to SARB & accounting matters
- Treasury & cash management
- Follow up with FSSC on any outstanding bank reconciliation items
- Inform FFSC of minimum amounts required to open bank accounts in country
- Liaise with banks on any queries
- Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions
Qualifications & Experience
- Matric / Grade 12.
- B Com degree or equivalent.
- CA(SA)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Accountant.
- Sound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Advance working knowledge of ERP system /SAP R3.
- Sound working knowledge of Cognos
- Highly Computer literate.
