Position Purpose
To provide technical support for IT equipment at Transnet sites, ensuring optimal workstation performance. Responsibilities include installing, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading computer hardware/software, disaster recovery, business continuity planning, business phone solutions, and security solutions. The role also supports desktop environments to minimize downtime and ensure smooth business operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure network, internet, email connectivity, and end-user access remain functional.
- Use hardware and software tools to support business processes effectively.
- Provide technical support for servers, troubleshooting basic server configurations.
- Manage backup solutions for laptops, iPads, cellular devices, and small systems.
- Implement ICT security measures and support end-users with software/hardware issues.
- Procure, repair, and maintain ICT equipment to minimize downtime.
- Support network and non-network printers, SAP printers, and manage printer supplies.
- Configure and maintain video conferencing and boardroom equipment.
- Ensure LAN, WAN, WiFi, and remote access (APN, 3G) availability.
- Execute minor ICT projects for business units, covering the full project lifecycle.
- Supervise third-party service providers working on ICT infrastructure.
- Maintain software licenses, hardware inventories, and disk usage monitoring.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Option 1
- 3-Year Diploma (NQF 6) in Information Systems/Computer Science or related field.
- A+ Certification and N+ Certification.
- 3 years of experience in desktop support.
- ITIL Foundation Certification (advantageous).
- Experience in large organizations with complex systems (advantageous).
Option 2
- A+ Certification and N+ Certification.
- 5 years of experience in desktop support.
- ITIL Foundation Certification (advantageous).
- Experience in large organizations with complex systems (advantageous).
