Tasks:
Responsible for supporting the Mercedes-Benz East London plant with chemical analysis and monitoring of critical materials and plant processes (e.g. pretreatment, e-coat) to ensure strict adherence to quality standards. The incumbent will also provide technical support for investigations and problem-solving. Calibration/verification of analytical equipment and adherence to S.H.E.Q. standards will form part of the scope of work of the technician.
The Job Requirements
- Experience with various analytical techniques – e.g. Karl Fischer titration, scanning electron microscope, FTIR spectrophotometer, and titrations.
- Analytical and conceptual thinking.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to perform the minimum required physical and mental requirements of the function.

- Responsible for analysis, monitoring and evaluation of materials, critical facility equipment and processes to ensure strict adherence to Mercedes-Benz quality standards.
- Use analytical techniques and chemical knowledge to assist with investigations and problem solving.
- Conducts material evaluation as per the ISIR process.
- Conducts calibration/verification of equipment.
- Ensures adherence to SHEQ standards.
