  1. JOB PURPOSE

The Utilities Operator is responsible for operating utilities equipment and processes safely and efficiently to support the organization’s production and operational goals. Responsibilities include monitoring and adjusting machinery, performing maintenance and repairs, troubleshooting issues, maintaining documentation, and promoting a safe, clean working environment.

  1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate equipment and machinery essential for utilities operations
  • Perform autonomous and basic maintenance on utilities equipment
  • Conduct regular safety inspections on machinery and systems
  • Monitor and adjust utility systems to meet performance targets
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues or malfunctions in utility systems promptly
  • Perform routine checks, calibrations, and system tests
  • Log and analyze system data, such as temperature, pressure, flow rates, and energy usage
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of operations and maintenance
  • Coordinate utility shutdowns, repairs, and upgrades with internal teams
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and regulations
  • Provide support and training to team members as needed
  1. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Educational Requirements:

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Minimum N5 Certificate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Professional Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Utilities Operator or similar role in a manufacturing or industrial environment

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of industry regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA)
  • Physical ability to work in environments with high temperatures, confined spaces, and heights
