Minimum Educational Qualification: Basic numeracy and literacy (ABET – ability to read and write).
Experience:
Appropriate porter experience in a hospital environment.
Inherent Requirements:
Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting patients from/onto beds, trolleys, and wheelchairs. Willingness to work night shifts, weekends, overtime, and public holidays. Must be willing to handle corpses and be in good physical health.
Knowledge and Skills:
Extensive knowledge of porter service delivery within a hospital. Basic knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) procedures. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Key Duties:
Safely load, offload, and transport patients on trolleys and wheelchairs. Replace and move medical gas cylinders. Assist with the movement of medical equipment. Maintain a clean and safe work environment using basic infection prevention measures. Clean and perform basic maintenance of wheelchairs, trolleys, and mortuary fridges. Remove deceased bodies from wards and transport them to the mortuary. Collect and deliver blood specimens.
