Key Purpose
The Data Archiving Administrator is responsible for managing and supporting data archiving for O365 Mail, OneDrive, Project Server/Online, SharePoint Server/Online, and SQL/Online. The role includes:

  • Monitoring and administrating archiving systems
  • Ensuring compliance with business standards and requirements
  • Managing access controls, backup, and recovery
  • Troubleshooting and resolving incidents and complex problems related to data archiving

Areas of Responsibility
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining archiving infrastructure and retention standards for business serviceability
  • Resolving incidents/requests assigned to the team within the specified SLA
  • Investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving archiving data recovery issues
  • Logging and representing changes in the Change Management forum and implementing updates
  • Performing minor version upgrades of archiving software and hardware code
  • Regular patch management and commissioning of new archiving clients
  • Drafting and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the archiving environment
  • Exporting, uploading, and compiling license capacity reports

Education and Experience

Essential:

  • Matric
  • Veritas Enterprise Vault certification
  • Cloud Archiving Technologies certification
  • 3 years of experience in an IT environment
  • 2+ years of Data Archiving support
  • 2+ years of Microsoft infrastructure support

Advantageous:

  • MCSA – SharePoint Administration knowledge
  • MCP O365/Archiving certification
  • Microsoft 365 Certification
  • Experience with archiving tools (e.g., EV, Mimecast)
  • Sound understanding of Veritas Enterprise Vault
