Graduate Recruitment Scheme 2025/2026 – Eastern Cape Province

The South African Police Service (SAPS) invites unemployed graduates to apply for a 12-month internship programme under the Graduate Recruitment Scheme.

This initiative supports the National Human Resource Development Strategy and the National Skills Development Strategy.

📌 General Requirements

  • Must have a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12/NCV L4) or equivalent.
  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • No previous criminal convictions or pending cases.
  • Must be unemployed, never employed in the field of the advertised post, and never participated in an internship programme relevant to the post.
  • Must be a resident of the Eastern Cape Province.
  • Applicants may apply for a maximum of three (3) posts and must complete separate application forms for each reference number.

📌 Internship Categories

  1. Graduate Intern – Requires a completed tertiary qualification (Degree/Diploma, NQF 6+).
  2. Student Intern – Requires practical work experience as part of a qualification (attach a letter from your institution).

 Stipends will be paid as determined by the SAPS Human Resource Development Division.

  • Locations:

  • Qualification: Degree/Diploma in Communication/Public Relations (NQF 6+).
  • Core Functions: Assist with event management, correspondence, media support, and internal communication.

Administrative Graduate Interns (Supply Chain Management) – 6 Posts

  • Locations:

  • Qualification: Degree/Diploma in Risk Management, Internal Auditing, Organisational Development, Industrial Engineering, Project/Operational Management.
  • Core Functions: Assist with organisational structures, business process re-engineering, THRR calculations, and form design.

Administrative Graduate Interns (CIMAC) – 2 Posts

  • Qualification: Degree/Diploma in Criminology, Policing, Sociology, or Social Science.
  • Core Functions: Support crime prevention forums, GBV initiatives, awareness campaigns, filing, and admin.

Administrative Graduate Interns (HR Management) – 9 Posts

  • Locations: Provincial Head Office (2), Kwanobuhle, Gelvandale, Kabega Park, Humewood, Bethelsdorp, Mdantsane, Lusikisiki.
  • Refs: EC 14/2025 – EC 22/2025
  • Qualification: Degree/Diploma in HR Management/Public Management.
  • Core Functions: Assist with HR administration, absenteeism management, job descriptions, grievances, and labour relations.

Administrative Graduate Intern (Sports Management) – 1 Post

  • Location: Provincial Head Office (HRD) – Ref: EC 23/2025
  • Qualification: Degree/Diploma in Sports Management, Sports Science, Physical Education, or Coaching.
  • Core Functions: Support sports admin, fitness programmes, database updates, and record keeping.

Administrative Student Interns (HR Management) – 3 Posts

  • Qualification: N6 in HR Management + Institutional letter for experiential learning.
  • Core Functions: Assist with payroll, budget, claims, and expenditure management.

Administrative Graduate Interns (Social Work) – 4 Posts

  • Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work + SACSSP registration (valid for 2025/26).
  • Core Functions: Provide occupational social work services, capacity building, restorative interventions, and workplace support.

Administrative Graduate Interns (Legal) – 5 Posts

  • Locations: Provincial Head Office, Mthatha, East London, Port Elizabeth, Grahamstown.

  • Qualification: LLB Degree (NQF 6+).
  • Core Functions: Support labour litigation, legal admin, evictions, and disciplinary matters.

Administrative Graduate Interns (Psychology) – 4 Posts

  • Locations: Butterworth, Mthatha, Mount Road, Graaff-Reinet.

  • Qualification: Honours in Psychology/Registered Counselling + HPCSA registration (2025/26).
  • Core Functions: Assist with assessments, counselling, crisis interventions, debriefing, and wellness programmes.

Student Interns (Motor Mechanics) – 8 Posts

  • Locations: Mthatha, East London (2), Bhisho (2), Humewood (2), Maluti.

  • Qualification: N2/N3/NCV L4 in Motor/Diesel/Petrol Mechanics.
  • Core Functions: Assist with SAPS vehicle repairs, servicing, diagnostics, safety checks, and job card completion.
