Salary: R220 614 – R376 458 per annum
Salary Level: Grade 1–3


Requirements

  • Qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Staff Nurse/Enrolled Nurse.
  • Grade 1: None after registration with the SANC (in respect of South African qualified employees who performed Community Service).
  • Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience after registration with the SANC as a Staff Nurse/Enrolled Nurse.
  • Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience after registration with the SANC as a Staff Nurse/Enrolled Nurse.
  • Current registration with the SANC as a Staff Nurse (2025/2026).

Knowledge and Skills

  • Nursing care processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant legal frameworks: Nursing Act, Health Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Patient Rights Charter, Batho Pele principles, Public Service Regulations, Disciplinary Code and Procedure, Grievance Procedure.
  • Planning and organising.

Duties

  • Ensure maintenance of patient hygiene.
  • Sustain nutritional status of patients.
  • Facilitate mobility and elimination processes of patients.
  • Measure, interpret, and record vital signs.
  • Operate relevant apparatus and equipment.
  • Assist professional nurses with clinical procedures (e.g., intramuscular injections).
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic and surgical procedures.
  • Utilise resources effectively and order stock/equipment cost-effectively.
  • Report loss or damage immediately.
  • Maintain professional growth, ethical standards, and self-development.
  • Uphold Public Service and Professional Body code of conduct.
  • Seek learning opportunities (e.g., in-service training, courses).
