About the Programme

Nedbank recognises the vital role that youth play in shaping South Africa’s economy and future.
As part of the Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme, Nedbank offers young South Africans an opportunity to gain valuable work experience that enhances their employability in the formal job market.

Successful candidates will be placed in the Nedbank Contact Centre in Umhlanga Rocks, Durban.


Placement Areas

You may be allocated to any of the following divisions within the Contact Centre:

  • Personal and Private Banking


Stipend

This opportunity offers a monthly stipend, not a salary.
It is intended to cover basic living costs during the 12-month period.
Applicants should carefully consider proximity to the workplace, as relocation or long-distance commuting will not be supported.


Key Responsibilities

Depending on your role and allocation, your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing excellent client service and promoting Nedbank as the bank of choice.
  • Fulfilling service, sales, or collections roles within the Contact Centre.
  • Engaging with clients via phone, email, or SMS.
  • Promoting Nedbank products and identifying sales opportunities.
  • Managing arrear accounts to reduce default risks (for collections roles).
  • Upholding Nedbank values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, People-Centredness, and Client-Driven focus.
  • Contributing to team performance and knowledge sharing.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Have a Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate)
  • Be between 18 and 29 years old (born between November 1995 and November 2007)
  • Be currently unemployed
  • Not have participated in a YES Programme at any other organisation
  • Be South African citizens who are African, Coloured, or Indian, as defined in the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act (No. 53 of 2003)
  • Have a valid South African ID


Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Ability to communicate effectively in other South African languages (advantageous)
  • Basic computer literacy

Work Conditions

  • Must be prepared to work 8-hour shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required.
  • This role is fully onsite at the Nedbank Contact Centre in Umhlanga Rocks, Durban.

Residential Location

Due to the stipend structure, applicants are encouraged to live within a 30–35 km radius of Umhlanga to ensure affordability, punctuality, and reliable attendance.

Durban North Areas:
