The vision of the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) is to qualify a skilled and capable workforce. The QCTO is a Council established under the Skills Development Act for standards generation and quality assurance for all occupational qualifications.

The QCTO is looking for a highly motivated, competent, and professional individual to fill the following position:

Job Title: Receptionist

Salary Level: R193,359.00 – R227,766.00
Location: Pretoria – GP ZA (Primary)


Job Description:

The successful candidate will provide reception and front desk services to the QCTO.

Key Functions:

  • Manage the QCTO front desk by performing switchboard and receptionist duties.
  • Receive visitors at the front desk by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately.
  • Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute daily mail/deliveries.
  • Maintain and control visitor register at reception.
  • Provide relevant and accurate information about the QCTO in-person and via phone/email.
  • Assist in resolving clients’ issues and/or complaints, escalating unresolved issues to the relevant persons.
  • Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk.
  • Perform other administrative and support duties such as arranging travel and accommodations, and preparing vouchers for the Marketing and Communication personnel, filing, photocopying, transcribing, and emailing.


Job Requirements:

  • Educational Qualification:
    • Matric Certificate.
    • A recognized three-year Occupational Qualification or National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Office Management, Secretarial Management, Customer Relations, or Public Relations.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a receptionist including switchboard operation.


Knowledge in:

  • Public service administration
  • Relevant government legislation
  • Operation of Telecommunication System
  • Receptionist etiquette

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Client orientation and customer focus
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and general office management skills
  • Ability to act with discretion
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
