Job Summary

Rand Water invites applications from suitably qualified and previously disadvantaged individuals for the Supply Chain Practitioner Learnership Programme.
The purpose of this qualification is to equip learners with the knowledge, practical skills, and workplace-based experience required to operate as a Procurement Officer.

A Procurement Officer is responsible for coordinating the procurement and supply of goods and services, managing supplier contracts and negotiations, and monitoring procurement schedules.

Minimum Requirements

  • Applicants must not be employed.
  • Applicants must not be enrolled in any other qualification or Learnership Programme.
  • Applicants must not hold a completed post-matric qualification.
    • (Failure to disclose post-matric qualifications will result in disqualification.)
  • Must have Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematical Literacy and English at a minimum of Level 4 in both subjects.
  • Must submit/attach SAQA/NLRD verification report (obtainable from SAQA website).
  • Must be a South African citizen with a valid SA ID.
  • Must be between 18 and 35 years of age (in line with the NSDSIII).

For People with Disabilities (PWDs):

  • Applicants who are deaf or hard of hearing must provide their own interpreters at their own cost (since this is a learnership that requires communication ability).
  • Proof of disability (Doctor’s certificate/report or signed ITRDD13 form by a registered medical doctor) must accompany the application.

Primary Duties

  • Develop and maintain operational schedules for procurement and supply.
  • Manage procurement and supply relationships and contracts.
  • Monitor and measure procurement and supply performance.

Responsibilities During the Learnership Programme

  • Attend all classes as part of the learnership.
  • Participate in discussions and classroom activities.
  • Complete assignments and projects as required.
  • Write assessments and maintain a practical logbook to demonstrate learning progress.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude

Knowledge:

  • Rand Water mandate and its contribution to the water sector.

Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Attitude:

  • Self-motivated and results-driven.
